Draft Peter Gabriel’s We7 will distribute free online music without DRM-protection

Well-known musician and ascetic Peter Gabriel launched a new music service that allows musicians to earn money on the spread of music, and users to download songs for free - and while neither side will violate the law.

Peter Gabriel is going to earn from advertising, which will be added to the free versions of tracks. Advertising message average duration of 10 seconds will be encased in track with the help of technology MediaGraft, it also allows the user to 4 weeks after downloading it from there to remove. In addition, the site can be download for a certain amount of the same tracks without advertising.

Gabriel truly believe that his project for a few months will gain unprecedented popularity because of its niche is exactly in the shops and file-sharing services, and he could prove that music can be distributed free of charge and receive a profit.

And this is not the first such project of musicians - even in 1999, he opened a virtual music store, OD2, whose music library for five years has grown to 350 000 songs. In 2004, Gabriel had parted with their child, and sold his company Loudeye, which, in turn, sold its Nokia for $ 60 million.
